OUR HISTORY
The story of the Humbert-Droz family begins in 1956 when Mr. Humbert-Droz Marcel decides to open his own watchmaking workshop and create the companý Reparalux in order to ensure the assembly and repair of the great watchmaking houses of the time.
In 1968, he was succeeded by his son, Jean, a graduate of the Besançon watchmaking school. Then, in 1995, it was his grandson, Fréderic, who would run the companý while perpetuating watchmaking expertise and passion. In 2004, the company moved to Besançon's Parc Alpia, where it remains today.
In 2006, Julien, his great-grandson, decided to continue the family tradition and took a watchmaking course at the Morteau school. In 2008, he obtained his CAP in watchmaking, and in 2011 his Diplôme des Métiers d'Arts. Finally, in 2013, Julien became technical director of the Reparalux workshop.
Since then, Julien Humbert-Droz has been training and passing on Franc-Comtois know-how and watchmaking expertise to his apprentices and watchmakers.
The Humbert-Droz brand made its debut in 2016. In fact, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the family business, Julien had the idea, along with his father and grandfather, of creating their own brand in tribute to his great-grandfather and bearing his name.
Thus was born the first watch, the famous and emblematic HD1. HD, to recall the initials of the Franc-Comtois family with a passion for watchmaking. The HD2 and HD3 followed closely on the heels of their predecessors.
The HD4 will be released in 2017 with a very vintage design and a unique German movement. It will be closely followed by the HD5.
In 2018, the brand's first chronograph is released and continues the logical sequence by being named HD6. Finally, in December 2019, a mechanical watch with a French France-Ébauches movement sees the light of day.
The latest watch in the collection, the HD Mécanique is a great pridé for the family business.
HD4
A window watch brought back from the past thanks to our HD4 and its superb German Bern- hard Förster movement, is available in four different models:
- HD4 Wood and its uniform color.
- HD4 Emerald and its green dial.
- HD4 Steel and its industrial spirit thanks to its color.
- HD4 Onyx, sober elegance in black.
The case, made of polished steel on the sides and satin-finish on the top, has a rectangular shape measuring 40mm by 35mm and is 15mm thick. Its crystal is a half mineral glass with three inner magnifying lenses. The buckles of the bracelets are folding and in signed steel.
What's more, the caseback is made of steel with a transparent back to allow visibility of the movement.
All our models come with a leather strap. This model is offered as a limited edition, numbered from 1 to 400. Water-resistance up to 10 ATM.
The HD4 displays the hours, minutes, seconds, date and day. These indications are set by means of the crown.
HD5
Our HD5 model is fitted with an ETA 2892-A2 top-finish Swiss movement and is available in four finishes:
- HD5 Pure Roman, with its white dial and Roman numerals.
- HD5 Céleste, with its midnight blue background.
- HD5 Pur Arabes, with its midnight-blue hands standing out against the white dial.
- HD5 Black, with its black dial for maximum sobriety.
The case is made of either polished or sandblasted steel, depending on the model, with a diameter of 39mm, a thickness of 9.90mm and a 22mm horn-to-horn. Its sapphire crystal is anti-reflective on the inside.
What's more, the caseback is made of steel with a transparent back to allow visibility of the movement.
All our models come with three bracelets: one Milanese and two nato. This model is offered as a limited edition, numbered from 1 to 150 for each case, i.e. 150 watches with a polished finish and 150 with a sandblasted finish.
Water resistance up to 5 ATM. The HD5 displays hours, minutes, seconds and date.
HD6
Our chronograph is fitted with a Swiss ETA 2894 Cosc movement, top finish and is available in three models:
- HD6 Azur, with its blue dial.
- HD6 Panda, chic and elegant in black and white.
- HD6 Sport, with its sober black finish and dynamic yellow hands.
The steel case has a diameter of 43mm, a thickness of 14mm and a horn-to-horn length of 22mm. Its sapphire crystal ensures maximum resistance. The buckles of the bracelets are in steel.
What's more, the caseback is made of steel with an openworked back to allow visibility of the movement.
All our models come with two straps: one leather and one steel. This model is offered as a limited edition, numbered from 1 to 300. Water-resistance is guaranteed up to 5 ATM.
The HD6 displays the hours, minutes, seconds and date, plus the chronograph.

In fact, two of our models are fitted with two different Swiss ETA movements.
We also have a German Bernhard Förster automatic movement.
Last but not least, our very last move is one signed France Ébauches.
We do our utmost to work with French companies and, as far as possible, those based in the Franche-Comté region. For example, all our leather bracelets are designed, created and produced by the Jean Rousseau factory, which is located not far from Besançon, less than 10km from our workshop in Pelousey.
