FAQ

Why get your ears pierced at MATY?

At MATY, ear piercing is performed in all our jewelry stores across France by our teams, who are trained in this procedure and regularly inspected by health authorities. When you visit MATY, you benefit from the expertise of a jeweler, and the assurance of a properly performed, quick, and (almost) painless ear piercing.

What are the different drilling options?

MATY only performs ear piercing, on the earlobe.

How and by whom are piercings performed?

Every ear piercing is performed in our jewelry store by our professionals. First, we work with you to determine the piercing location. Then, using a piercing gun and wearing disposable gloves that arechanged after each piercing, our professionals gently pierce each ear and immediately insert medical-grade earrings. This makes the process faster and less daunting. A quick click, and it’s done!

Does it hurt?

At MATY, ear piercing is very quick and performed with great care by our professionals. So, generally speaking, there’s absolutely nothing to worry about! However, if you want to avoid the slight pinch that may be felt, you can apply an anesthetic cream to your child’s ears about an hour before the piercing. Ask your doctor for advice.

At what age can you pierce a child's ears?

As a precaution, at MATY, we perform ear piercing for children ages 3 and up. Please be aware, however, that the younger the child, the higher the risk of infection (dirty hands, frequent touching of the ears, contact with other children). Furthermore, the shape of the ears is not fully developed at this age, and some childcare facilities do not allow earrings to prevent the risk of injury. It is therefore safer to wait until your child is older.

Do you need authorization?

If you would like to have your child’s ears pierced, please note that all minors between the ages of 3 and 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. You will therefore need to present your identification documents (ID cards or passports) or the family record book. One of our advisors will then have you fill out a parental consent form, which must be returned completed and accompanied by photocopies of the proof of parentage mentioned above.
