Our history
Gérard Mantion began writing it in 1951. A lover of art and commerce, his passion guided him in the creation of MATY, in which we put all our heart today...
Gérard Mantion was born in Besançon, at the time the capital of French watchmaking, and it was natural that he should turn to the know-how of the region. Committed to his project with faith and sincerity, he was keen to surround himself with a small team sharing the values that are our strength today: a love of our craft and the human touch.
After fulfilling watch orders from the garage of the family home, this small founding team had the audacity to think bigger, and closer to their customers. That's how our very first boutiques were born. Today, there are some thirty of them, located all over France, so that you can see our expertise up close and so that we can meet you.
We've also responded to the need to be close to our customers by allowing you to fulfill your desires, needs and favorites on maty.com. Today, more than 500 of us are working for you, with the same pleasure as in the early days of MATY.
