The origins: when the world of haute couture meets the passion of watchmaking.
The origins of Pierre Balmain watches are intimately linked to the world of fashion.
History
The world of fashion
Born in France in 1914, Pierre Balmain firmly believed that couture symbolizes the architecture of movement. He opened his fashion house in Paris in 1945. The origin of his undeniable talent lies in his ability to imagine simple, elegant and slender silhouettes, through tailoring and made-to-measure evening gowns.
Monsieur Pierre Balmain was one of the leading figures of Parisian Haute Couture, and his art helped spread the idea of French luxury throughout the world.
A great lover of art, he was constantly inspired by the graphic representations of some of the oldest and most elaborate arts in the world, Arabesque and Mandarin Art in particular, which magnify floral and plant representations, whether stylized or realistic.
"Arabesques" were, for this creative genius, at the heart of his inspiration.
The world of watchmaking
In the 1980s, Pierre Balmain's creations attracted the expert eye of the founder of the Swatch Group. In 1987, the latter acquired the exclusive rights to manufacture Pierre Balmain watches in Switzerland, and in 1995, the Swatch Group became the worldwide owner of the brand.
Creations of beauty
The encounter between Swiss watchmaking expertise and innovation has given life to collections that precisely reflect the elegance and design of haute couture. Characterized by bold, eye-catching shapes, these timepieces are a combination of modern technologies and materials, designed to surprise and seduce.
Attention to the smallest detail is one of the threads that bind the Balmain fashion universe to its watches.
Decorative arabesques are a hallmark of Balmain watch design. This inspiration comes from the embroideries adorning the designer's haute couture dresses, reinterpreted in a modern way. Elegance and prestige are the watchwords of contemporary Balmain watch collections. The sources of inspiration are many, and each model has its own story, inviting the wearer to tell their own.
Quality by tradition
Balmain watches, stamped with the prestigious "Swiss Made" label, are created in Saint-Imier, in the heart of the Jura Valley, the cradle of traditional watchmaking. All Balmain timepieces meet the highest quality standards. Every detail is designed to perfection in order to satisfy the desires and demanding pace of today's men and women. The brand also boasts a worldwide after-sales service. Balmain watches perpetuate the tradition of a time when made-to-measure reigned supreme.
