To change the battery in a MATY watch
Whether it's for an annual change, or simply because the battery in your watch is no longer working, you can have a battery change at any of our Bijouteries MATY. Our watchmaking experts can carry out the replacement in Bijouterie. However, it is possible that the case of your watch cannot be opened by our jewelry experts. In this case, your watch can be sent to our watchmaking workshops, which will be able to open and change the battery in the best possible conditions.
It is important to know that a conventional battery change will not preserve the water-resistance of your watch. So, if you wish to keep your watch water-resistant, especially above 5 ATM, your watch must be sent to our watchmaking workshops, as only they are authorized to change the battery while guaranteeing the water-resistance of your watch.
To change the battery in a brand-name watch
If you own a brand-name watch (other than a MATY watch), the battery can be changed directly in the jewelry store in the same way as for a MATY watch, provided the case can be opened by our expert jewelers and watchmakers.
If you wish to preserve the water-resistance of your watch, it will be sent to our watchmaking workshops. They will carry out a water-resistance test to determine whether the battery change and water-resistance can be carried out by our experts:
If the test determines that our experts can handle your watch, the turnaround time will be around 10 days.
Conversely, if the test indicates that our experts cannot handle your watch, or that the brand of your watch cannot be handled by our workshops, it can be sent directly to the brand of your watch so that they can carry out the desired change. This will take a minimum of 45 days.
How much does it cost to change a watch battery in a jewelry store?

When the battery change and/or sealing is carried out by a particular brand, the price is defined by that brand and may therefore vary.
Why and when should you change the battery in your watch?
It is advisable to change the battery in your watch regularly to prevent the battery from leaking a corrosive substance that damages the watch mechanism.
Unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer, a change every 18 months is recommended.
