International Women's Day

My Jewelry
My Story

Jewelry and women: a true fashion accessory, a symbol, a keepsake… They love it and wear it proudly. Often imbued with emotion, a woman’s jewelry is part of her daily life—and sometimes extends far beyond her own story.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, the women at MATY and the designers behind the Marketplace
have decided to share the secret behind their favorite piece of jewelry.

    A family heirloom…

I never take off my 14-karat gold ring set with a zirconia because it’s a true heirloom. My mom received it for her 30th birthday and passed it down to me when I turned 20. As a family heirloom, this ring symbolizes the strong bonds that have united us over the years.

    A lucky charm…

I never take off my white gold and zirconia necklace. Simple and understated, it goes well with all my outfits. It’s my talisman, my good-luck charm… When I wear it, I feel protected! It’s all the more important to me because it was one of the first gifts I received from my boyfriend.

    My love story…

I have three rings that I never take off; they all symbolize my love story with the man who will soon be my husband… The first one marks our first meeting, the second the birth of our daughter, and the third his marriage proposal. We’re getting married on May 25th, but I don’t want a wedding band; I’m currently working with the Créations MATY workshop to modify my three rings so they become just one…

    A representative diamond…

Every day, I wear a pendant set with a diamond. To me, this piece of jewelry symbolizes parental love and the passing down of that love. In fact, this diamond comes from the wedding ring my dad gave to my mom; the pendant was then designed by my husband and the piece transformed thanks to the expertise of Atelier des Créations. I took advantage of a gold buyback program to carry out this transformation while preserving the diamond from my mother’s wedding ring.

    My great-grandmother with me…

The piece of jewelry that means the most to me? My yellow gold signet ring—it reminds me of my great-grandmother, who gave it to my mom when she was younger. My mom then passed it down to me when I was 14. I never had the chance to meet my great-grandmother, but through this ring, it’s as if a part of her is with me. Since I was 14, I’ve never taken off my signet ring...

Words from the Designer

And what about the women who create the jewelry?
The designers on the Marketplace share what jewelry means to them…

Jewelry is, above all, about feelings and emotions.

The Milligram journey began the day, after the birth of my children, when I was searching for the perfect piece of jewelry to symbolize those precious moments in my life. I wanted to bring them together, to combine them, to collect them as if they were moments of happiness.
Every woman wakes up in the morning, gets dressed, and adorns herself according to her mood. The choice of her outfit, the way she pairs one piece of jewelry with another—a family heirloom with a trendy design, fine jewelry with costume jewelry—is a way of expressing herself, of combining pleasure, allure, and the feeling she carries with her like a beauty secret.

To each her own dose of femininity, boldness, lightheartedness, dreams, or madness. It is this alchemy that makes us irresistible!

In my opinion, jewelry is an accessory that allows you to subtly reveal your true personality.

That’s why I take great pleasure in creating pieces that, to my taste, symbolize power and character. It’s also why I quickly became drawn to leather: a noble and charismatic material. My favorite piece of jewelry? A double-wrap black leather bracelet, symbolizing elegance and simplicity. I love clean lines, and while it remains simple, this piece gives me a certain strength. It’s a piece I created myself; it had been close to my heart for a long time.

Jewelry enhances one’s appearance, adds a touch of elegance, evokes emotion, and conveys a message…

To me, jewelry has always been about aesthetics—that detail that embellishes, that dresses one with elegance, that touch of color or texture that stirs an emotion, that conveys a message or a symbol, or simply brings out a facet of one’s personality. If I had to name a piece of jewelry that is close to my heart? A blue amber ring, a precious memento of the person who gave it to me for my twentieth birthday: my grandmother in the Dominican Republic. To me, it is a symbol of my origins, of a family heritage. It allows me to reveal another part of myself, beyond words. In my life, this piece of jewelry is now a discreet companion of beauty, well-being, and fulfillment.
